  • Olek Bondonio Langhe Nebbiolo 2018. It’s a delightful wine which really surprised me - really outshines many Barolos. The nose is very aromatic with stewed black cherries, rhubarb, floral, mint, spice, licorice, pepper, and green herbs - a lovely complex nose. On the palate, juicy sweet black and red cherries, kirsch, rose, some rhubarb, hints aromatic clove, earth, licorice, cranberries, spice, mint, white pepper, and puckering tannins. Very beautiful and elegant complex palate, delicious, with the sweet black cherries showing off very well. Just a delicious wine. 93-94 points

  • From younger vines standing in sandy marls in cru Starderi (Neive), all farmed under organic certification. Fermented in steel with 'pied de cuve' and raised in 25 hl botti for just short of a year. Olek's LN '18 displays a hot-vintage profile with an abundance of fruit, sturdy ripe tannins, moderate acidity, ample alcohol and a long warming finish. In comparison, the Barbaresco Starderi '18 tasted from barriques (only used) was definitely more elegant, with better integrated alcohol and understated spicy wood notes. That said, pretty outstanding quality for Langhe Nebbiolo. Best now and over the next few years. (Disclaimer: ITB with Swedish importer Vin & Natur)
