  • Prior bottle was just over a year ago and this wine is in a great spot. Nose remains very pretty, even classic with dark red cherry and brighter red berries on a frame of minerals, earth, spices and floral notes. Medium bodied with rounded black cherry upfront along with some red cherry highlights. Adds some slightly darker black cherry through the middle along with a touch of red raspberry and then tart black cherry behind. Balanced tannins and acidity for structure and then spices, earth and very good mineral notes through the finish. As I'd hoped, the mid-body has opened up just a bit more as compared to my prior bottle. With the acidity and minerals in the back, the mid-body fruit really shines. Overall, the wine shows a lot of harmony and elegance and should be able to hold this level over the next few years.

  • Prior bottle was almost 15 months ago and my notes were actually quite consistent. Dark red cherry and brighter red berries on the nose along with mineral, floral, earth and spice qualities. Medium bodied with virtually the same mix of black and red cherry I noted with my prior bottle; a pretty blend of rounded depth and more high-toned contrast. Mid-body adds a touch of red raspberry as well as additional black cherry with tart red cherry behind for contrast. Integration and overall balance continue to be strength so the wine demonstrates purity and elegance. Finishes with minerals, spices and earth. May continue to open up a touch more through the middle as the backside acidity continues to integrate with the mid-body fruit. I'll save my next bottle for Q1 2024.

  • Wonderful hints of dark cherry and other red fruits that evolves into some red cherry taste during consumption. A hint of minerals and spice and a little earthiness on the finish. A lovely wine from Chanin that has plenty of life left in it. Will try the other vintages before coming back to this one in early 2023.

  • Prior bottle was 20 months ago and this wine has evolved as I'd hoped. Nose shows dark red cherry, slightly lighter red berries as well minerals and earth notes. Medium bodied with rounder, more open black cherry and slightly brighter and lighter red cherry upfront. Red raspberry comes in through the middle, but it's more in balance than previously. The dark red cherry is now more in balance with the raspberry notes so the fruit has definition, but also feels more rounded, open and silky. Backside has tart red cherry, acidity and fine grained tannins, leading to a mineral, integrated spice and earth accented finish. Overall, the flavor profile has remained much the same as my initial bottle, but the improvement has come (as hoped/expected) in terms of improved balance and general integration. Should continue to evolve along these lines and I'll plan to open my next bottle in Fall 2022.
