Coravin fun - 2009 Bordeaux & Random Burgundies (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Oof, a little funky; almost a touch of cellar stink over blackberry, brambles, wet leaves and wet much, also a touch of chalky minerality. With time it gets earthy and more jubey fruit. In the mouth it's juicy, savoury, dark hued fruits show blackberry and brambles, plenty of grip here; the palate showing far better than the nose. Air and time will help. Pretty splendid.

Phil's Birthday tasting (Phil's place, Putney, Sydney): From Coravin. Blackberry, cherry, a little earthy and funky, spice and, with time, a touch of stalky herbaceousness. In the mouth it's juicy with medium plus intensity acidity, wild blackberry and plenty of talc textured tannic grip, that herbaceous note shows more on the finish. Time

Coravin fun - new arrivals (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Smells dense with black fruits, a little oak, spice, quite polished and fruit forward. Very primary though a little more extracted (not over-extracted I hasten to add) than the Amiot Servelle. And this shows on the palate; it's quite dense with juicy acidity but rather bold and with wonderful medium plus intensity blackberry fruit, tannins are present and drying but softly textured and well integrated. Balanced, all travel long, very nice indeed.

Burgundy introduction (Vance's at 811): From Coravin. Ripe blackberry, sweet spice, savoury underpin, polished oak. Savoury but sweet fruited, plenty of textured grip.
