  Stepping down from its best years, gracefully and with gleeming hints of elegance ( though never greatness). I enjoyed these but it is definitely time to finish your stash. A good dose of very dark cherry,, less oak than in past years, and still that soft, smooth melange of dark red fruit carried by a tad of modern vinification. The nose has receded and the array of purple and earthy notes narrowed. No decant!

  Clearly some bottle variation as I work through the last few bottles. This wine was so nicely balanced and so softly evoked— youthful color of fresh cherry red, a nice earthy and woody cherry/plum/ hint of sweet herb nose. Full soft, deep dark red fruit palate with that Bel Air lighter sense of Gevrey. No decant.

  Compared with the prior five bottles from this case, the gentle, rosey, sweet red fruit seems a bit overtaken by acid in this bottle. No evidence of browning, but an ever-so-small hint of receding lushness and fruit delineation. Very nice nose of tart cherry, smoky earth, and a bit of sweet plum, with a palate that was a tiny bit out of balance. Displaying fairly good terroir for this often softer Gevrey appellation. Some cherry, lingonberry, cranberry notes with an incomplete finish.

  A third bottle that expresses nicely, this time further up the shoulder: while the two recent bottles were ready and seemed to be peaking, this bottle actually needed an hour of air. Crisply defined red fruit— rasperry, cherry lingonberry— along with the somewhat woody style of the House. A long finish with the passage characterized by stronger tannins. A good wine.
