  • Dinner with Popiah Party (Garibaldi, Purvis Street, Singapore): At Garibaldi. A bit big and burly at first, this did open up fairly nicely in the decanter to make a pleasant drink over the evening. The nose was pleasant in a warm, sunny fashion, with rich aromas of black fruit - think plums and blackberries - then perfumy violets, spice and wild herbs. The palate was plump and ripe, but nicely structured, with generous flavours of plums and dark berries seasoned with a nice amount of spice and warm, peppery herbs, and a lovely blush of lavender, all trailing away into a generous finish. Enjoyable.
