  • My tasting group did a Zoom with Cameron Rushton of Five Star Cellars, so I tracked this down at TotalWine. I've never had a wine from them before, and it has been a while since I have had young Cab from Walla Walla. (When I started collecting in 1999, I was swimming in wines like this.) Poured under Coravin, so I will circle back on this several times over the next 4 weeks as I nibble the bottle down.

This was surprisingly nice, really a treat. Very Cab on the nose with deep cassis notes, cedar shavings, and sage. Other than the cedar, there isn't much overt oak that I can find. The palate is just fantastic, pure black cherry, with racy acidity and really fine, dusty tannins that stick to your teeth in a pleasing way. Spicy, clean, fruit driven, very pure, not at all overdone. A touch of spicy green on the palate and finish.
