  • T7 B6.5 Fuller bodied than the first 3 - light stinky nose.

  • This wine is a basket case. After 4 hours of breathing in decanter, it was practically fruitless and bone dry - just nasty. So, I transferred what remained to an empty Grolsch swing top bottle, and put in the fridge for future consumption. Actually, I was going to cook with it. Well, I forgot about it, and found the bottle 2 months later. There was a good centimeter of air gap in the Grolsch bottle, and I feared the '03 Poitevin would be rather oxidized. Well, it wasn't, and I was delicious. Dark, scotched earth, pain grille and braised black berry fruit, with mouth watering minerality. Herein lies the problem: this wine, with significant, albeit slow, air exposure, tastes like an '03 Gigondas, *not* an '03 Haut Medoc. It was 91-92 points in overall quality with 2 months of slow ox, but not one iota to style. I have never experienced a Medoc, or any Bordeaux red, for that matter, tasting like a northern Rhone red, with slow ox. I may never experience it again, either.

  • A great tasting every day drinking Bordeaux. Surprisingly good fruit and subtle tannin for a cheap quaffer.

  • No notes, but tasting was more consistent with March/2008 note than June.

  • On the nose: sour cherry, cranberry, earthy, mint, loads of green pepper. Medium bodied, with moderate acidity, and green, unripe tannins. On the palate, sour cherry, plum, earthiness, some black currant, but overwhelmed by the green pepper characteristic. Finish is medium length, but astringent with tannin. Wine was decanted for about an hour. Overall, was a disappointment, esp. after we enjoyed the first bottle. Bottle variation?
