  • Opened for 3 hours. Color is dark garnet with some orange on the rim showing age. On the nose: Dark chocolate, plum, red and black berries and orange zest. On the palate: Plum, dark chocolate, lots of spice notes, licorice, tart red berries and notes of orange zest. This is very good now but has lots of life left I think.

  • I'd say this is in ita absolute prime. Perfect tannins, dark cherry, prune and chocolate followed with beautifully subtle hint of licorice. Delicious!!!

  • The 2004 Pintas is still extremely young. Young in the dark colour, young in the intense aromas of dark berries, licorice, bush (rockrose), Christmas cake and a slight wood coat wrapping the all. The palate is full bodied with a velvet glove grasping the fruit, the bushes and covering the great wall of tannins....a beast of a wine....but very true to its origin. Old world on steroids with a need of several more years in bottle. Finishes long and full bodied like a black cape covering any sense of light. Hold for another 10 years.

  • Bought this at a Portuguese wine store in Newark - wasn't sure how well they stored their bottles so I went ahead and opened it now fearing it would be past prime. Was definitely not - dark crimson in color, could smell the age and see the red color starting to fade, but only slightly. Easily good for another ~5 years. Good fruit, a tad chalky, plenty of alcohol - needed to decant. Wish I would have saved for a few years!

  • Dark crimson colour.
Opulent on the nose full of aromas of plums, cherries, oak and high alcohol that it is not well-integred.
Still tannic in the mouth. Intrusive oak. Cooffe bean note too.
    Modern style coming from nowhere.
Let's wait five years or so for the last bottle.
