wonderful rich Pinot with strong backbone - tending towards a dense burgundian pinot - cherry, cassis, forest - though was definitely california. More mature and elegant than most californians

NC Cindy tasting. Very dark for pinot - barely translucent. On the nose, lots of cherry and lots of vanilla and wood, but in a good way. Quite sweet on the nose, it smells like a cherry pudding dessert. On the palate, still sweet, and still a fair amount of oak, but well-balanced with a nice, long finish. Considerable brown sugar and cinnamon flavors on top of the cherry cola keep this from being too one-dimensional. Although a 2004, this probably still has some legs left in it. A very good wine, probably the second-best of the night for me, it is decidedly New World in profile. Don't touch this if you don't like the California flavor profile.

When good wines gone bad. This is either a seriously flawed bottle or things just took a turn for the worst. Fruit is faded and what is left is a rubbing alcohol on oak mess with a dash of wild berry. Something seems off because I've had this wine several times over the last few months. Don't get any trace of cork taint. I'll let sit and see if this revives itself otherwise its drain-O.
