  • C'est droit, un beau Pinot pour le prix. Gardé un reste pour le lendemain et avec les tannins effacés, encore mieux.

  • Really nice wine for ~$20 and especially admirable for a Pinot Noir at that price, an even greater rarity. I've had a few that are even more vibrant or engaging for the price, but still a solid buy.

Nose is not super powerful nor complex, but definitely really pretty. A quiet, gentle perfume of ripe red cherries mingles with a subtle but noticeable earthy/stemmy quality. This gentle stemmy tone is a nice touch, well-integrated, and places it above a lot of $20 Pinot, although when considering other reds in the price range, there's some intense competition.

Palate is similar; subtle, nothing surprising, but very nice and drinkable. More of the nice cherry from the nose, on the ripe side but certainly not overdone. Less earthiness, but quite a bit of tannin that lends a nice texture. It's a little chalky though, because the acidity is a pinch on the lower side when compared to the fruit and tannin; not flabby at all, but 25% more energy would really help the balance. I understand 2018 was a pretty hot vintage in the Willamette, so this is still definitely well-made.

  • Some higher toned raspberry fruit on the nose. That has some tang and freshness to it. Just opened. Crispy tart, in a fun way.

  • Nose > Cherry/berry. Fragrant fruit. Wild raspberry, wineberry, Morello cherry, mulberry & pomegranate.
    Big, sappy, wild fruit.
Palate > Big mouthful of fruit & spice; fruit taking the lead. Red & Morello cherry, raspberry. Sappy & substantial.
Good backbone & structure, with some nice, grippy tannins. Good+ acidity. Med/med+ intensity.
Fairly long, fragrant, fruity/sappy aftertaste & finish.
Very decent Pinot for under $20 ... if in fact it's all Pinot (wouldn't bother me if it's not).

  • New to Maine from a local wine distributor known for diligence in introducing interesting and innovative outliers.
Strawberry and cherry on the nose of this medium-plus well extracted and silky beauty. Tannins are pleasantly present with an equally concomitant sweet vanilla envelope, uncharacteristically profound for an Oregon Pinot Noir in this price point ($19.00). This price point will not be sustained for long.
With lamb stew the earthy attributes symbiotically pair with the umami from the mushrooms. The acidity is gentle in spite of its youth and buoys the cherry vanilla sophisticated flavor profiles.
2018 was the 8th warmest year on record for Oregon resulting in (wine making expertise not withstanding) a 13.5% alcohol for this wine.
I experience a subtle, yet bold blast of fruit flavors with cola notes in this wine, and I plan to acquire more to assess the additional time related aspects of evolution.
For now there is a friendly postscript of grape skins on the finish imparting the reality of artistry and craftsmanship from winemaker Chris Berg over the all too present scientific intervention and manipulation of the gifts of the vineyard.
