≈25 min decant into a plastic, cylindrical pitcher which was then closed. NO visible sediment; Due to an oversight, Private Preserve not applied until ≈17 hrs after opening.
N: Slightly closed; Pyrazines, poss dill, with a distinct blk pepper component, berries & choc coming on with addt'l swirling
P: Med body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which quickly evolves into a LONG finish with a charming bitter/swt (choc?) aspect to the firming, but innocuous, tannins. The night's Chx Burrito (Ancho's) exacerbated the bitterness, & while NOT an asset, it was still marginally doable, though not nearly @ the level of the wine by itself. // Day 3: Aromatically > open than Day 1, aromas ≈ other than the blk pepper somewhat < intense. P has held BEAUTIFULLY, every bit AS intense as Day 1, the bitterness unnoticeable until paired with the night's Spicy Marinated Skirt Steak, the TOUCH of it then being an asset. A *lovely* wine that struck me as being far, FAR > charming than on Day 1, implying my decant time was insufficient? Deserves/NEEDS into '22 (or > a 25 min decant now), then drinking into, probably through, '25. 14.7% ABV; My EXC/EXC+ (92-95 /100 using that metric), the higher couple a good bet IF one has a modicum of patience with this.
