  • This is very typical of a Spanish Rioja red, blind I would have guessed that it was from Spain. Don't know if it uses American oak but it does have that type of wood profile.

  • Second go-round with the wine and 9 months later, this is still fairly primary, with mostly red and a touch of purple fruited flavors. The tannins are still a bit youthful. On day two, the tannins were significantly more intergrated. There's good material and a lot of promise. Recommend extended aeration if drinking today and, ideally, a 1-2 year hold.

  • Juicy cherry flavors accented by spice and a subtle vanilla note. Full- bodied with medium acidity and grippy tannins. This wine was only recently bottled, but it is already tasty and quite promising. I was surprised to learn that no new oak is used on the wine; instead neutral oak barrels are used. There's enough fruit and structure to suggest that this wine will age nicely. 13.7%abv.
