  • Tried this along with the 2019 and enjoyed the 2018 much more. Perhaps the 2019 needs more time to mature. Either way this was sublime. Silky smooth, nice fruit, really easy to drink and crowd pleaser.

  • The second bottle of Millot that I've tried (the first being a 2015 Vosne villages that was quite good). The nose here is definitely showing some ripe fruit, par for the course for the vintage. Interestingly, there's a pomegranate note that I quite enjoy. It's not the hyper crunchy post-modern style, but I'd say it's leaning in that direction. The palate is similarly ripe and juicy as the nose, but perhaps a little crunchier than the nose thanks to the tart acids. I suppose due to its youth this is lacking the complexity I expect from a grand cru; despite the vintage, the midpalate could have used a little bit more weight. Plenty of grainy tannins on the finish, as would be expected for such a young wine. All that said, I think this is a fairly interesting wine, and I'd love to see how they handled the much better 2019 vintage (and I'll be putting my money where my mouth is).
