By the bottle at Barndiva in Healdsburg, CA. Nose is dark-fruited with plums, blackberries, a slight green complexity and a violet floral lift on the end. Palate is smooth and ripe but not too rich: more dark fruits (black cherries and plums) and five spice. Very balanced, but not the longest finish in the world. It’s gaining lift and freshness and complexity with air though; I’d recommend decanting. A good if not quite great pairing with the duck breast and actually with the dashi broth trout as well. Not cheap, but quite delicious especially as it opens up.

At open bright high notes of red fruits. Warm bright red claret wine. True to 13.3 or 13.1% abv. Slightly chewy and herbal spicy toned. Drinks like you think the Savoy would. Maraschino cherry at the open, flat high tone acid in middle and ends with cranberry pomegranate. Slightly spicy at open. Resolves very quickly.

Delicious dark fruit, with savory notes peeking around the edges. Accessible and tasty now, but will likely improve further.
