  • Medium/Deep purple Colour. Smell reminds of dark tart fruit, aniseed, and black pepper. Same flavors in the taste, although anis mellows more into pure liqourice. Highish tannins, full body, dry, medium acid. Good wine, but slighty off balance.

  • A blend of Syrah (95%), Mourvèdre (3%) and Viognier (2%). The red varieties were fermented and macerated as whole bunches in stainless steel tanks, after which they were aged for 16 months in old oak barrels. Viognier was fermented and aged for 16 months on the lees in stainless steel. 14,5% alcohol, 4 g/l residual sugar and 5,5 g/l acidity.

Moderately translucent black cherry color. Spicy, somewhat toasty and slightly generic nose with aromas of ripe dark berries, a little bit of juicy blackcurrant, light plummy tones, a hint of sweet oak spice and a touch of strawberry. The wine is juicy, full-bodied and silky on the palate with moderately ripe flavors of fresh blackberries, some sweeter plummy tones, a little bit of savory woody spice, a hint of peppery spice and a touch of boysenberry jam. The wine shows good sense of balance with its moderately high acidity, but the tannins feel very soft and ripe, contributing mainly to firmness and texture, not to the grip and structure. The finish is spicy, moderately warm and quite long with flavors of peppery spice, some ripe blackberries, a little bit of woody bitterness, light crunchy chokeberry tones and a sweet hint of toasty oak.

A quite good but ultimately somewhat generic new world Shiraz. There's nothing wrong here, there's just nothing that would keep me engaged either. This is a solid everyday red with no noticeable highs or lows. An acceptable new world red I wouldn't have problems to have a glass or two, but also something I wouldn't purchase myself. Priced according to its quality at 13,49€.

  • Popped and poured from a half bottle. Ripe dark fruit on the nose. Medium to full bodied, rather supple with gentle tannins, delivering unfocused dark fruit with decent acidity and some heat on the finish. Robust and monolithic.
