After opening a bottle in 2020, I saved this bottle with a note to open in 2023. It was really enjoyable three years but a bit of bottle age has done wonders. Softer, balanced and evolved.
Rich, complex aromas jump from the glass with notes of dusty black plum, worn car leather and dark chocolate.
On the palate the once chalky tannins have mellowed and the alcohol has taken a back seat. Juicy acidity and medium+ body.
Flavours trend slightly sweet with candied blackberry and milk chocolate.
Drink now.

My first Baco Noir, and it's a fascinating wine. Inky, with an odd fruit profile of ripe boysenberry and tart red currant/cranberry. Somewhat spicy and smoky, with generous oak that's well integrated and never takes over. Just enough acid to keep it feeling fresh, with the red currant lingering on the medium finish. Not really elegant, complex or long, yet a pleasure to drink. I would've guessed high altitude Malbec or a Syrah-based blend if blind.

The first time trying wine made from the Baco Noir grape. It is light, too fruity to my taste. It could make a good wine spritzer.

Funky nose. Fantastic blue fruit on palate. Mid acid. Low tannins. Very enjoyable.
