Community Tasting Notes (13) Avg Score: 94.8 points

  • Nose is dense and complex with ripe black plums, sweet toasted spices, savoury licorice and grilled meat in the undertone. The palate is so rich, deep and long, complemented by a ton of acidity in the core. Sweet spices filled the entire palate. Full-bodied and almost opaque structure with some bite at the edges, hiding fine aromatics. This needs at least 3-5 more years for the elements to harmonise and balance out. Transition from the mid-palate to the lingering finish is spicy and linear. If you are drinking this now, an hour of decanting is necessary. 94-95 pts.

  • Year 2018, drank dec 2023 - a fullbody shiraz, dark berry, chocolate and oak, great complexity could have been kept in the cellar many years or decanting before drinking.

Intense, powerful, but elegant. Floral, fruity, herbal and lifted. A finish that keeps evolving.

    Deep purple colour.

Pronounced aromas of crushed strawberry, plum, exotic blossoms, blood orange, all spice, incense, dried herbs.

    Pronounced palate.

Full body, high tannin, medium (+) acidity, long finish.

  • Hugely expressive nose with concentrated blackberry and raspberry. Lifted notes of wildflowers and peach. Touches of dried herbs, fine spices and incense. Full bodied but effortlessly elegant on the palate. The tannins are mouth coating but so refined. Lovely freshness. Incredible finish which builds and evolves. Too young now even after a few hours of air but so delicious. My favourite out of the Standish 18s tasted side by side.

    WSET Notes:

    Deep purple.

Pronounced on the nose with blackberry, raspberry, wild flowers, peach, dried herbs, cedar, vanilla, incense, kirsch, leather. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate. Full body, high alcohol, high tannins, high acidity, long finish.

    Too young.
