  • Winter BYO with a lutefisk pause!; 12/16/2023-12/17/2023 (D O Lien): Pouring into the glass, this wine unveils a deep, unyielding dark red hue, without transition. The nose is complex, featuring vibrant red berry notes reminiscent of strawberries and raspberries. Intertwined are hints of tart fruits, cherries, blood, and a subtle metallic edge. On the palate, the wine is dense and concentrated, with flavors of cherry, licorice, strawberries, and a touch of earth on the finish. It maintains a fresh, and well-balanced profile, exhibiting impressive length. A brilliant wine.

  • Jim brought this vertical vintages of 2018 and 2019 for taste after a nice golf game. It was my first time trying this Pommard monople. Even it was 1er cru but served good in dense aroma, silky palate and good structure. Nice.

  • PnP. ABV 13%. Made by Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, 1st vintage after purchase by two Americans, Denise Dupre and Mark Nunelly in 2017. From Jasper Morris’s “Inside Burgundy”, 3.75 Ha Monopole. Previously owned by Jaboulet-Vercherre and grapes shared between Louis Jadot and Piere Andre. Apparently Thomas Jefferson was also a fan!
Floral and clean nose, pretty good. Fine tannins and elegant for a Pommard on the first sip. Mostly dark berries and plenty of spices surprisingly. Medium bodied and decent length. No trace of alcohol. Not showing the hot vintage, grapes were probably picked fairly early and ripe. Very good balance overall. Delightful to drink at the moment, probably showing more of the winemaker style than the vintage or appellation. Supposedly 500 cases, no stem, and 50% new oaks.

  • Recognizably Liger-Belair, so perfumed of dark purple fruit, airy, luscious. Structure is not comparable to domaine wines/better terroirs. Still delicious. 92-93

  • Nez delicieux de cerise griotte et fraises, salinité... Super salty red cherries, very delicious light and long aftertaste.
