  • Longlivebrunello tasting, the "La Paulee" of Montalcino, vin 37:

Super long aging, 5 years on botti and 4 years in bottle.

    Wood, dark fruit, soil.

Rough style, massive tannins, low fruit. Over-oaked. 90p

  • a bit firm upon opening.... 5 hours in the decanter, this softened beautifully. Sumptuous, savoury, ripe, and complex - delicious indeed, and assembled party suggested Wine of the night.. of which there were many!

  • Despite beirg vertical for over 24 hours, a superfine sediment still prevailed upon decanting, so alas no translucent purple, but hints of brick orange hint at a decade of cellaring. A splendidly complex bouquet reveals trampled violets , a suggestion of dried spices, (mace, cinnamon). On the palate rich and still impressively lively, with good acidity. Savoury black dried fruits and oak so well integratrated it bearly intrudes . The finish is long and luxurious, quite befitting a wine of this pedigree. Although this is drinking very well now, it will continue to evolve to efficacious effect over the next 8-10 years.
