  Slight less deep ruby than the 2012 and 2009. Immediately some black pepper on the nose, start of palate feels like Bordeaux but finish is more Syrah power, bacon, game and again black pepper. Hard to work out what to think of this. Not sure it really adds to anything except curiosity. Would have loved to try the 2017 Palmer next to this as a comparison.

  (47% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon aus 2017 ergänzt mit 10% Syrah aus dem Jahrgang 2018 von der Nord-Rhone. Preislich war der Wein jeweils ähnlich wie Palmer, seit 2021 wird der Wein preislich unabhängig von Palmer lanciert). Der Wein zeigt eine etwas dichtere und violettere Farbe, als die des Alter Ego. Anfangs etwas scheue Nase, die etwas Zeit braucht, um sich zu öffnen, um dann dunkle Früchte, etwas Rauch, Leder sowie eine subtile Eukalyptus-Note zu offenbare. Im Gaumen straff, fruchtig, sehr saftig, mit guter Struktur, kernigen Gerbstoffen und einer markanten Würze im Abgang. Ein ausgezeichneter Wein, der zeigt, wie die Syrah-Traube die Bordeaux-Assemblage gut ergänzen kann. Hat Reserven, bis 2040+ geniessen. 92 vvPunkte www.vvwine.ch
