First taste out of the bottle there's black cherry, bramble, and blueberry pie filling on the nose. Really dry, enveloping the entire palate with granite dust, leather and coffee over faint dark fruits. Heavier and more Bordeaux-like than I recall from a typical DP, but truly outstanding.
2 hrs after opening (not decanted), the nose comes across as old wine cellar - musty, old wood. Tannins are better integrated and less dominant than earlier; while still very present, they're more concentrated front palate as opposed to draping the tongue in a tannic bathrobe.
At 4 hrs the tannins have significantly faded and I wouldn't take this as the same wine as 2 hrs ago, largely fruit-driven, but very mature. No need to rush this wine, just handle its drinking window properly.
In the first 2-2.5 hrs this would be a perfect pair with well-aged beef. At the 3.5 hr mark, this was equally outstanding with our kamado grilled swordfish steaks over charcoal and apple wood.

Plush wine that is a pleasure and drinking well right now. The wine is very aromatic with dark cherry and a touch of wood fire. The wine delivers on dark fruits with fig and plum preserve stew and nice mint and other herbal notes. Alas, my only bottle!

After three hours in the decanter there’s rich, dark berry, bramble and coffee on the nose. Not as blueberry forward as the typical house style, I assume related to the vintage.
Fine-grained tannins are resolving but still have some time to age/ integrate, as they really dry out the palate. There’s dark fruit and mocha here, maybe some smoke; really enjoyable but could use more air or time to age. No rush.

Good solid drinker not spectacular but overall good. Have spent less and tasted better. But a solid Napa Cab.
