  • Although I’ve previously enjoyed the “Le Macchiole Paleo Rosso” (Cabernet Franc) on a couple prior occasions, this is my first time with a Tuscan Cabernet Sauvignon. IMHO, I suspected this might still be “early”, but I decided to open this bottle to pair with the pan seared and broiled, bacon wrapped, Filet Mignon, asparagus and mushrooms. Decanted for around 90 minutes prior to dinner. Displays an inky, deep ruby color. In development, showing unintegrated oak spice, grainy tannins, and mixed earthy red fruits built around a solid acidic core. If you might be expecting to enjoy a juicy, smooth and polished Napa Cabernet like wine, this is definitely Old World in style. Absolutely requires hearty food, and had no problem supporting the richness and saltiness of the red meat. Finishes very long and satisfying. I have a number of bottles of this label dating from 2015; going forward, I’m holding back on opening anything having less than 8 years of bottle age. Definitely starts to soften at about the three hour mark. Hold, decant, or drink from 2025 through 2035+. Upside potential.

  • Better than prior years. Think of this as a $100 Napa Cabernet but slightly more sour and herbaceous. It’s a good value at around $60. Drink now or hold ten plus more years. In a line up of high priced Brunello I actually enjoyed this most.

  • Very concentrated, ink, herbs. To be revisited in a couple of years.
