Very well balanced, subdued red fruit with a slight hint of licorice. The finish is long and the smoothness of the tannins is very very nice. What a delicious wine and great value.

Yesterday we popped the cork of 2001 Fattoria di Felsina Berardenga Maestro Raro Toscana IGT one of the best QPR Italian cabs I had lately, only $20 a bottle. I didn't pay attention and only tasted the wine right before putting steaks on the grill. To my chagrin, the wine appeared to be corked. My wife didn't share my finding 100% and I pulled another bottle from the cellar, opened it and my wife performed the blind taste on me, using very little wine on the bottom of 3 glasses, and she compensated the difference of wine temperatures by warming up the glasses.
End result: I ID'd 1 glass as corked and was correct, I ID'd the second as corked and was incorrect I ID'd the 3rd one as not corkked and was correct.
For the sake of the peace in the family I had to stick to the house rule of: whatever is opened is finished the same day.

My first Italian Cabernet Sauvignon. Not Bordeaux, not California, the wine stands on it's own feet. No see thru dark red color, cassis on the nose. resolved tannins and long finish.
