(Shinn Estate Vineyards Chardonnay) Vaguely reminiscent of sauvignon blanc with grapefruit, lemon and hints of grassiness and minerals. Fresh-picked green apples and citrus dominate a simple but mouth-watering plate that is framed by briney minerality and plenty of acidity. A salad made with the season's best local produce, maybe some grilled shellfish and a bottle of this wine would make a nice summer lunch.

Delicious again, and even held up wonderfully as we finished it over the next two nights -- one glass left tonight and it's full of citrus, grass, spice and mineral flavors, with good acid and balance. This is our last bottle of the 2006, on to the 2007...

Once again, a delicious example of what chardonnay should be -- crisp, mineral and citrus flavors, burgundian in style. This is not your round, buttery cali chard. Perfect as a starter. The wines that followed were the 1996 Brocard Beauregard, 1995 Clark Claudon Cab, 1994 Staglin Cab, and this was the wine we all loved consistently! If you can find it, don't pass it up!
