Garnet, slightly bricking edges. Aromas are subdued but showing some cocoa and cherry. Medium body, medium high acidity, with a slight harshness on the finish. Some wood, dust, leather, some smooth cherry, but really lacking overall in any real character. This was a big swing and a miss. Not sure if it was a slightly oxidized bottle, but that's what it seemed like to me. Not corked, but tired and past it's prime. Maybe a leaky cork?

The color shows just the slightest start of bricking at the rim. The nose is vibrant, with red and black fruits, earth, leather, brown spices, and cedar elements which add complexity. The palate is medium + bodied, with similar flavor profile to the nose. Even at 9 years old, there is plenty of grip, from both tannins and acid which linger on the finish. Very nice now with food, although I think this will have plenty of time to develop in the cellar.

Needs air - after 2 hours in the glass it opened up and came together. Flowers, cedar, integrated tannins.
Nice food wine.
