  • A blend of biodynamically farmed Macabeu (80%) and Muscat Blanc (20%) from vineyards ranging from 30 to 60 yo. Fermented spontaneously and aged for 8 months in foudres, stainless steel and concrete tanks. Annual production 7000-9000 bottles. 12,5% alcohol.

Subtly hazy and quite intense yellow-green color. The nose feels rich and expressive with sweet-toned aromas of tropical yellow fruits, some creamy oak tones, a little bit of fresh apricot, light nutty tones and a hint of spicy red apple. The wine feels ripe and quite full-bodied yet still remarkably fresh and lively on the palate with somewhat Burgundian flavors of red apple and creamy oak, some salty liquorice tones, a little bit of herby spice, light nutty notes of savory wood and a hint of fresh white peach. The high acidity lends great sense of structure and tension to this ripe and somewhat voluminous yet not at all heavy wine. The finish is fresh, dry and juicy with a quite acid-driven aftertaste of fresh red apple and ripe white peach, some nutty notes of woody oak, a little bit of creamy richness, light waxy tones, a hint of phenolic spice and a touch of sweet tropical fruit.

A beautiful, fresh and tasty Roussillon white with a lot of character, depth and precision. You might not immediately think of Burgundy when drinking a relatively ripe white from the south of France, but there is something undeniably Burgundian going on here. Drinking really well now, but I have no doubts this wine will not only keep, but improve with age. Highly recommended!
