Now I think that this wine is starting to show the lovely mineral backbone and delicious citrus notes that prompted me to buy it at the tasting 2 years ago.

No formal notes but I am thoroughly enjoying this wine as I quaff it on a Friday evening after a hectic week. It has also been awhile since I've had a chardonnay and I was really in the mood for one. I like the citrus notes, the touch of smoke and the minerals. Feels very clean on the finish.

No formal notes First tasted at an en-primeur tasting Feb 14, 2007. For me the St. Veran was like a prelude to, or a "shadow" of, the 2005 Vieilles Vignes. From the tasting I recalled a faint scent of pine and some cloves. After receiving the pre-order home, it was evident that the wine needed time to "settle down" after its journey and opened up a little after about 1.5 hours. The second bottle tasted in November convinced me to wait another year or two before I open the next bottle.
