Tasted with monthly Winos group; last of a case bought on release. Less than 0.5 cm ullage. Only bottled in 88 and 89. // Gorgeous Cote Rotie scent but on the palate, clipped profile, likely better 10 years ago. Lots of points for the scent, > 90, but palate low 80s.
Tasted next day - a little of that lovely scent still there, but wine had fallen apart overnight. Score based on how it tasted when tasted by group, when it was likely last place of 5 wines in flight.

The nose on this is quite beautiful, with enticing aromas of charred meat, olive and earth; On the palate, it's quite light and delicate, with some dried red fruits dominating; The finish is a bit clipped and the tannins are fully resolved; Likely past its peak, but still really pleasurable to drink

When first opened, the aroma of this wine was like incense and funky beyon belief. I came close to puring down the drain, but instead gave it a half hour to breathe (I did not have access to a carafe to decant). After the half hour, the volotile aromas had dissipated and the wine was quite delightful -- tar and cigar box aromas were teh domminant themes rather than incense and volatile chemical smells.

A surprisingly good bottle of wine after nearly 30 years in the bottle. Should still hold for another 3 to 5 years.
