  End of an era. My last bottle of the pre purchase Folie a Deux. I originally discovered the winery in the 80's on a trip to Napa and then couldn't find it anywhere. Rediscovered on my next trip in 2004 and fell in love with thier Zin's, especially their 99 barrel select. Now they're all about their Menage a Twa (sp?) which doesn't do much for me and its just another Napa winery under their new owner. Oh well.

  Day 1 Good nose of dark fruit and oak. Initial taste of black cherry, spice, vanilla. The tannins for this bottle are almost non existent and the fruit faded too quickly.
  Day 2 Nose stayed about the same. Dark fruits returned with less cherry and now well balanced with some acidity and good finish. Score is based on Day 2. It will be interesting to see how this wine develops over the next year.

  overall: I'm a fan for sure. Real nice and big with lots of good grip and good tannin structure. The tannins aren't overwhelming at all and it's really nice to see a zin this way this young. good stuff
