Popped and decanted in bottle for 2 hours, and honestly this could have used 3x that. Extremely tight with fleshy and firm tannins and racy acidity it didn’t give way to much for some time.
Colour is a deep dark inky crimson colour with a slight magenta hue.
On the nose, gobs of blueberry pie, mint, and coffee contrast sharper notes of crushed rock and graphite.
In the palate there is much more fruit though it’s slightly less blue and more blackberry and black cherry that dominate here. There is a subtle red soil and pencil shavings but I kinda feel like this left me wanting more.
As a whole and with time it became good but I don’t think I’d be revisiting for a couple years (or at least giving a long decant out of bottle).

This wine presents a good value for the price paid ($18), although at this stage, it was much too buttery to go to the next level (which suggests to me that the primary fermentation may not have been long enough). If the excessive butter flavor disappears with aging, the score will improve, although I don't see this one as a long-ager, as the acidity and tannins are already mild.
We drank this without a decant.
