Like berry cobbler up front. The fruit is kind of a ball up front and isn't quite married to the acidity. Light tannin and a touch of charcoal keep this from being too simple. UPDATE: I left about a quarter of a bottle of this in my wine fridge while I went out or drank Champagnes from the inside fridge over the next few days. I tried this and its fresh as can be. It is also MUCH more integrated, with the structure really lending great balance to that fresh cobbler fruit. A nice, even build from up front down to the acid and tannin finish. Lovely. I even set aside the wine I meant to open just to enjoy this. Would recommend holding this further after this experience. Terrific old school wine making from Ridge on this bottle.
sb Deep ruby purple with a pink rim Bright dark berry fruit My initial impression was some cab flavors but without the structure. Lowish alcohol, low tannins, almost soft. Quite tasty and easy to enjoy. Bravo.

Appreciate Ridge making a 100 percent Charbono wine, a wine seldom farmed these days and even less so bottled on its own. Tasted outdoors at their Lytton Springs winery, so notes are limited. I found the wine enjoyable. Nicely paired and contextualized, by trying the Charbono among a cluster of Ridge Zinfandels and their Lytton Springs Estate Syrah. Deep rich color. Has a warm/broad palate perhaps similar to Alicante Bouchet. Nose and palate provide lots of dark fruits, caramel, toffee, iron, along with rose, something floral, and touches of citrus and pepper. Fun to try and I would suspect quite good with grilled foods and bbq. Drink earlier rather than later.
Rich yet fresh. Makes me think of a Cru Beaujolais from a big vintage. It's only 13% but the fruit is really packed in. Fully integrated seemingly natural like acidity. Light tannin. Dark plummy fruit with dark purple berries. Noticeably no oak notes. Pretty nice on the less complex side. A nice surprise. Now if they could show this restraint on the new oak on some other particular bottles...

Very dark, but not as fruit forward as the tasting from 8/10/20. 13 Percent alcohol. Proved excellent with BBQ.
