  • Zoom blind tasting #2 (At home during circuit breaker): The oldest and funkiest smelling of the reds, this started out with a good old fashioned blast soil, socks, soy and sous bois, with a touch of decaying leaves in there to boot, all these only blowing off a little to reveal some sweet dried cherries and strawberries and a dash of wood spice lined with a ferrous streak. Not unpleasant, but very advanced. It was a bit nicer on the palate, but not by much - while alive, this felt a little lean and skinny, with its structural ribs of fresh acidity and the remnants of powdery tannins framing some sweet, juicy tones dried cherries and berries. There was plenty of still freshness, but this had clearly seen better days, with the finish rather falling off the cliff with a last kiss of sour plums. Not disastrous - it still went okay with a bit of food, and showed a smidgen of charm in its matured sweetness, but definitely the laggard on the night.
