Community Tasting Notes (4) Median Score: 87 points

  • Dark purple with red rims. Nose of light red fruits; rasp ,cherry, rhubard. Hints of caramel, cedar and a touch of anise and wet stone. Reminded me of a NZ Pinot Noir? Soft mouth feel w/light spicy and dry finish. Decent acidity w/some earthiness. 86 points.

  • This purple-black wine had a very fruit-forward taste and was enjoyed with spicy food. What a nice surprise and good value!

  • Good medium purple color. Nose showed hints or green pepper, coca and dark fruit. Flavors of plumb, green pepper, and blueberry dominate the palate. The finish turns lightly tannic at the end. Overall a nice wine for the price if a little on the simple side.

  • Medium purple with green pepper, blackberry, and alcohol on the nose. Medium to light on the palate with a moderate tannic attack that transitions to a little more smoothness with a sharp acidity towards a medium finish. Flavors of ripe blackberry, cedar(?), mild green pepper, and alcohol/menthol predominate. The finish is seriously fumey and alcoholic. Surprising acidity and excessive alcohol challenge the balance of this tempranillo, but don't knock it off kilter.

Overall, I like this. It's a different wine through each sip and the acidity makes it interesting and versatile. Arguably overly alcoholic and off-balance, but well within the limits of what I enjoy. Good QPR.
