My impression's of the 2019 vintage so far have been very positive. The 2019 de Forville Barbara d'Asti is a very nice wine. I decanted it one hour prior to dinner and enjoyed it with a Rib Eye steak, Asparagus, and a Tomato salad. This is a medium to full bodied Barbera with lots of fruit, and a beautiful bouquet. Drink now or hold.

A little bit funky to start with then red cherry and raspberry smells emerge. The palate has savoury, grilled, caramelised, red meat flavours and then the red fruits on the nose come through on the finish.

Bright cherries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, dried leaves, spice rack, fresh green herbs, toasted oak. Yes, there is definite oak influnce on this wine; but I think it is well integrated with everything else and prevents the wine from being too tart. Acidity is high, tannins are light. Pair with anything (we did a chicken burrito!)

Some complex flavors. A not quite vanilla aroma. Umami taste and mouthfeel. I think (THINK!) there is some earthiness in there that gives it that umami thing. Old world wine.

The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. The body is light/medium. The wine finishes short. The wine has medium acidity.
