no surprise that there were no floral notes left, as the wine has gone through aging. Very ripe, kinda alcoholic, with a pretty short finish… other than the alcohol. Toasty nose and a little sweet. Meh.

With a pale yellow color, the 2006 Viorous offers up a fresh full-bodied nose which at first sniff offers up a huge amount of fresh corn(!) After a few more minutes beautiful minerals appear combined with subdued honey. At first I am convinced this is a Chardonnay, but the the palate moves me in another direction. It is beautiful, balanced and provides a striking acidity with crisp lemon zest and citrus tones. The strange thing about this wine is that the floral component so often found in Viognier is not very present tonight and the denser and darker less acidic (sometimes "honey glaced") tones from Roussanne is also completely absent. But there is no doubt this effort represents skillful wine-making at master level. A wonderful wine, deserving more merit than it currently gets behind its Chardonnay siblings from this star producer.
(Served in a flight with 2009 Domaine Giraud Les Gallimardes Blanc, 2010 Denner Viognier and 2010 Sine Qua Non The Monkey)

lots of toast and lots of minerals in the nose. Ripe and sweet on the palate. No longer any hint of fresh floral notes from the Viognier... Detected a little sulfur on the nose. A little alcoholic and slightly sharp on the nose. Later on toasty corn showed up.
