  • No notes taken. Tasted double blind. Very intense, perfumed, floral, tropical fruits, lots of luxurious oak aromas, slightly sweet, nice creaminess and good acidity (but could be higher to improved the balamce further). An oddball you wanna drink from time to time but not too often. 92 pts

  • This is like a great white burgundy. Nose of limestone, rose petals, complex. Perfectly integrated. Delicious. Jenna gives it a 94.

  • Tropical fruits, ripe peach along with grassy and mineral notes as well as a floral overlay. On the palate, this amazingly manages to pull off nice freshness along the creamy texture. Also adding a touch of peppery spice, further boosting the complexity. Silky texture, just slides down your throat.

  • This was part of a "Wines you never had before" tasting I organised for a handful of fellow wine aficionados. The goal was to showcase unusual grapes and regions in all price brackets. My, and the crowd's, wine of the night was the 2014 Ao Yun (China Cab) although Maria Teresa from Quinta do Crasto and VioRous from Kongsgaard went down well as well.

A floral and buttery nose with a fruit that reminds me most closely of being citric although that doesn't do it justice. The floral notes were not as dominant as you would get in a Condrieu I found. Definitely some minerality in the mix as well. A tiny bit bitter on the palate but with a great buttery texture. Unfortunately, the low acidity levels come to the detriment of freshness which is clearly a question of personal taste. Overall, the wide-ranging aromatics and soft mouthfeel are convincing.

  • An Evening of Oddballs and Curiosities: My first meeting with the Roussanne/Viognier blend from Kongsgaard, one of my favorite white wine producers. I like the complexity, precision and the mineral touch, but I’m not the biggest fan of Viognier as it has just not enough acidity. If I were the winemaker I would change the blend and increase the Roussanne part from today 30% to above 50% to make it fresher.

TN: At first the nose was dominated by a subtle sea salt, oyster, wet rock minerality. Unfortunately, on the palate this minerality is not strong enough to at least partially compensate for the lack of freshness and cut. Lots of floral aromas, some orchard fruit. Nice complexity and precision, medium body, good length.

Decanting: As the wine improved in the glass, I would advise to decant it for 30-60 minutes.
