  Part of some belated birthday celebration with friends. Due to the number of wines drank, no formal tasting notes and did not leave notes for all of them.

  Unfortunately opened very late in the night, but my only thoughts were it was pretty tightly wound and needs more time. Good juice, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice to open it right now.

  Gave this 2.5 hours before trying and at least a few hours while drinking with NY Strips and Baked Potato. Initial nose was dirty that eventually morphed into a earth plus herbal nose. Fruit profile was black with tobacco notes. Color me disappointed with this one and as I know Carter is quality stuff I will presume it with get better with bottle time and/or air. 92 now, perhaps 94 in the future. HMC

  Not quite sure what to make of this one.......opened by good friend HMC before dinner and he had it chilled and decanting for maybe 5 hours. Looking back over #1's note, maybe that wasn't nearly enough time? It is quality juice, you can tell it's a Carter in the mouth but the nose up front has a green vegetal/weedy component to it, almost like dandelion. This eventually faded a bit as the night and the bottle wore on but never really completely abated. There was also an odd flavor in the mouth that I couldn't quite place at one point. I think this one def needs more time to integrate and find its way. A nice wine that should get maybe 2 points better over time.

  Well, after 2 days of air, this beast is strutting his/her (politically correct) stuff. Finally. 1st Coravin pour several months ago was, "meh." I opened it yesterday and it smelled the same; "meh." So, I decanted the wine! Tasted at 3pm today and the smell was alright. Smelled again at 5pm, and tasted at 5pm, and this wine is awesome. Very impressed. A blend of both Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard blocks; clones of 337 and 4. This just needs more time. It is a beast.
  
  The smell is very strong and unusual. Dark purple and red; full-bodied and smooth. The mixture of the different blocks and clones from Las Piedras show through prominently.
  
  If I didn't know any better, I would have thought that I was tasting a Chris Tynan wine. The construction of this wine is very different than typical Carter wines.

  I had this wine side by side with the La Verdad and La BAM.
  
  This wine was very balanced and super smooth, with lots of concentrated red and black fruit, bursting out of the seams. Feels like a little brother to the La BAM, but with more refined structure and not as in your face. Lots of minerality and gravel consistent with Las Piedras, with a lingering finish.
  
  I enjoyed this wine more than the La BAM.
