A widow's shroud of sandy tannins, the wine does not flatter. But you know you're drinking burgundy - a plus - and it's not screechy, flimsy, or ill-proportioned. Taking into account the Faiveley reputation of years past for vinifying 'traditional' wines, and the characteristics of the 2005 vintage, I'm not ready to accept that this wine is at its final stage of development now and hold out hope for softening and better approachability in the years to come. With a little imagination, however, there's nothing fundamentally wrong with it now. As with young children, you just have to see the future promise in its present character.

Very dark. One could mistake this for a Syrah or Cab based on the color. Quite fragrant. Raspberry and strawberry, and a little coffee. Pretty much the same on the palate. Slightly woody note as well. Surprisingly tannic at the start although it didn't take too long for it to soften; less than 30 minutes. Very dry. Decent length. Not bad, if not all that interesting.

Pretty much what others are "saying" (e.g. jdlee1232) -- this really is uninspired, over-oaked, and just over-managed. They mangled this wine into a very nice, very expensive beverage in the winery. It was certainly in no way flawed, but what's the point.

Uninspired. More like a Bordeaux than a burg. Dark red. Tannic. Earthy.

Flabby, dull and undistinguished, with a level of polish that comes across as heavy-handed.
