Lovely colour. Vibrant red/crimson, flecks of purple. Nose is simple, but nice - slightly meaty, lots of pepper, slightly creamy, touch of vanilla. Red berries are in there, but aren’t particularly prominent.
Palate is pepper heavy, tannin is drying and the fruit doesn’t balance out the more serious elements, which takes a bit of the fun out of it. The meatiness doesn’t show through enough either. Slippery tannin. A bit short.
Perfectly nice, but I’m not overly upset I didn’t leave this longer.

On point for a Canberra shiraz, nee Syrah. Everything where is should be and very easy going. Can’t decide whether it’s the lighter body or shorter finish, but it just doesn’t grab me. One glass enough.
