Commanderie Pre-Dinner (Restaurant Vincent, Minneapolis): Deep, rich yellow gold color. Much more reticent initial nose than the '03 Peter Michael Cuvee Indigene, tasted side-by-side (see TN). This was less opulent and baroque in personality than the Peter Michael; the flavors are equally intense but more linear: honey, hazelnut, and stone fruits, an almost Champagne-like note of yeast/bread dough, and a whiff of petrol that reminded me of mature Riesling. The oak and acid are less harmoniously integrated here than with the Peter Michael, especially on the finish. Based on this bottle, I'd say this wine is fully mature; it seems to have the raw material to hang on for quite a while at this level.

Beautiful dark golden hue. Striking mineral structure. A tart tropicality which seemed to indicate a slight tiring of the fruit. Banana, green apple and stones. Great for it's age, just want more of the fruit.

Very burgundian with nut fruit, cornflakes and honey. The palate was ripe and rich but very enjoyable. 91+

No question on downward side buy pleasant indeed. Much of a Burgundian feel. Limited depth of taste.
