Very light in body and color—equivalent to a rosé—but with M+ to high acidity and the grippy (M) tannins of a fairly serious red. Not fruit forward, there’s light cherry-strawberry but this is more about savory leather, tea, poppy seed, dried pink flowers.
This is a ‘shallow’ sort of wine that’s meant to be drunk young and with food, but it’s not glou glou. The level of tannin and acid might tempt some to give this a few years but I don’t think it will improve; it’s just the sort of wine you have to enjoy grippy young tannins to like. Personally I love the style of very gentle extraction with serious structure.
This was good with buttery, green oniony blueberry risotto but I think it would do well with salty-fatty meat (say pork) too if you eat meat. Works well with a slight chill too, and could sub in for a rosé if you want something punchier in the summer.
At $18 I’d happily buy this again. I just bought the Freisa from the same producer and I’m excited to try it.

I absolutely love this wine, although I think it's not for everyone. It's very light in color, like a pale garnet red. Black tea notes really hit you, along with strawberries and dried flowers. Acidity is super high. It's just an intriguing wine and one I will drink over and over.

Light ruby color. Red berries and hay on the nose. Friendly wine, reserved and subtle red berry flavors, well balanced and juicy.

Tasty fresh grignolino. Tastes like seeds in a light bodied format.
