Clear and mid gold in colour, this wine has a nose of caramel, iodine and some nuts. In the glass were flavours of apples, lemons, toast, popcorn, and a hint of petrol. The wine is was slightly tart but it works well with a finish that lingers for quite a while.

Roussanne and Chardonnay. Light yellow in color to clear at the edge. Fragrant floral and citrus nose. Nice mid-weight mouth feel with some finish. Palate is a blend of citrus, honey, maybe some nut. Nice spot between lighter, crisper whites and heavier, more creamy whites. Not my favorite, but very nice bottle.

Hurt to open this since I only had one, but as Nikolas reminds us, they are only young once! Removed the cork and let breathe for about two hours. Compared to the intoxicating Kobayashi (mostly marsanne, vs this being Roussanne dominant) aromatics next to it, the fireworks here showed up on the palate. Lots of similarities in the color (hazy light gold), but the aromatics here were mostly on the toasted side…caramelized tropical fruits, honey roasted cashews, and nutmeg. Rounded profile on the palate (thanks to the Chardonnay), but great vein of acidity too. Such distinct layers of espresso and toffee that are revealed with time. I could see this improving slightly, but it’s already killer now with some air.

This wine was served side by side with a Kobayashi 2020 Marsanne Roussanne from Boushey Vineyard. Where the Kobayashi has much brighter and vibrant fruit, this wine seems to be more herbal, sharper acidity, new world wine made in an old world style. The white wine notes were not as apparent here. Wine was decanted for about 3 hours before serving. Although good, it was definitely outdone by the Kobayashi. I am not going to put a numeric rating, because I think this one was either asleep or I'm just not performing well. It was served with a roasted tomato bruschetta salad, which it did rather well with, but definitely was outdone. If I had to put a number on this, I would give it a 90 with a QPR rating that is subaverage.

rich and viscous, with white peach, lemon, ginger and apricot flavors. Really enjoyable as a stand alone wine

My second wine of my annual CC hosting.
