  • Bright nose of cherry, a touch of leafiness, cinnamon stick and hints of fennel. Palate is soft, approachable and rounded. Simple. Medium-bodied with nice acidity to carry the aromatics from entry to the finish which is firm and somewhat short. Made for early and daily drinking.

  • 92-93. Has lovely gravel infused blackberry and blueberry aromas. An elegant yet fruity full throttle blackberry yet silky very well oaked wine. Many conundrums. 13%. Drink now with pleasure or lay down 3-5 years. 13%. Nees 2-3 hrs aeration. Needs oak to settle down.

  • A reductive, burnt rubbery nose leads into a palate full of extracted black fruit and oak, with a finish that's bitter and oaky with a tinge of finishing heat. I'm not sure if I mentioned the oak, but there's a lot of it here. The back label says it's 13% alcohol, which is funny in the same way that Homer Simpson saying "According to my driver's license, I weigh 140 pounds" is funny. That's in the episode Lisa Gets an A. You know what doesn't get an A, or come remotely close to it? This wine.

  • From 750ml. Decanted 2hrs in advance. Invited to a private tasting with the winemaker. Brief impressions. Deep ruby colour. Nose and palate of mainly blue + black fruits with nice floral element (blue summer flowers?). Medium plus acidity and body. Really modern tannin structure, so I would expect this to be ready for immediate consumption for those that enjoy a more fruit forward profile. The balance and tension would suggest that this wine should age effortlessly for at least 10-15 years. 90pts now with 92-93 upside. Considering picking up a 3pack at c$50.

  • Popped and let air for several hours. Initially very reticent on the nose and palate. Tried giving it time in the glass but it stayed tight. Some cassis and cherry. M- body, M acid. Plush tannins. It wouldn’t open. Nothing on the attack, mid palate, nor much on the finish. I thought it might be in a dumb phase. Finally, around the 5-6 hour mark it started to transform into a juicy cherry pie. Some judicious oak treatment provides a bit of depth and complexity. Enjoyable (eventually) but I’m unlikely to buy this again because even at peak it didn’t feel like a particularly good value at the $30 mark.
