I tasted this at the Acqua California Bistro at Hilton San Diego Resort. I saw this on the wine list and did a bit of a double take. It was incredibly interesting and well developed. The fruit is still there, but the tertiaries are dominating at this point. Unfortunately i tasted several days ago and didn't take down my notes, but it was a serious treat. A properly aged bottle of this will give you serious joy.

Decanted 30 minutes. Like an American Crozes-Hermitage, medium-bodied, farmhouse beef jerky, nougat, cinnamon and chai-infused cream. Tart palate, dry, tannic, blackberry skin, black plum, astringent finish. Rustic and lighthearted with subtle complexity. The Jay Miller review says drink to 2025...do this at your own peril. Drink now-2015.

I thought this was absolutely delicious for $17. Has obvious staying power, with loads of bacon fat, smoke, blackberry, and black cherry in the aromas and flavors. Spicy, smoky aftertaste, turning dark and tarry. Very nice, especially for the price, and a terrific example of a domestic Syrah.

Still going strong, no sign of fading. The fruit is delicious and dense, the tannins drying but suppressed, and pepper and spice linger on the palate. Very good WA Syrah - review from 2010 at http://gortonator-on-wine.blogspot.com/2010/02/tamarack-2004-syrah.html

(TAMARACK Syrah) Syrah Dear Friends, It's been such a memorable year for us that the next few days will be about giving back - to you and to others. In addition, look for our list of charity donations posted to the web site on New Year's Eve. Thank you to everyone that sent in suggestions for charitable contributions - all were much appreciated and we tried our best to cover as many as funds would allow. To prepare for New Year's week, how about one of the crazier deals of the year? I have no recent experience with this wine but it has many fans in the region. In addition, this parcel is set to arrive at a bargain-basement price with perfect provenance (directly from the winery cellar in Walla Walla). If you are planning for a wedding, office party or other, this may be a good candidate - it appears to be one of the better prices on domestic Syrah in a long time... 2004 Tamarack Cellars Syrah (Columbia Valley) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA WA5800
