A little minerality, unripe raspberry and pepper on the nose.
Tart raspberry, blackberry and apple on the palate. Bright. Residual sugar leaving some film on the glass, though I’m not quite ready to describe it as leggy. It is 15% ABV, though. A little tingling on the tongue and warmth in the back of the throat. A little oily. Not acidic. Medium-bodied. Roughly-hewed tannins.
Opened this bottle mainly cuz info I saw suggested the drinking window was closing. Maybe it already did; I feel like the other bottle we’ve had of this vintage was better.
Decanted this Zin for forty-five minutes, cuz I’m weird that way.

Had this with friends last night - it was extremely popular - a smooth, soft, drinkable zinfandel - a lot of blackberry fruit in the nose - I will be getting more

I am a big fan of Paso wines. With that said - this Zin is very disappointing. Not sure where the sweet and syrupy comments come as I found it not sweet at all. This wine is very bright for a Zin. Nothing big or juicy about it. Found it a bit tart with depth of flavor. The back end taste is tangy and astringent. Nothing to get excited about.
My plan is to lay my 2 other bottles down for a few years and hope time in the bottle will help. Based on this experience, not buying again.
