Overview: finally opened this experiment leaving a few Kirkland wines in the cellar. Enjoyable, reasonably priced, and has improved with age. Simple but pleasant wine.
Appearance: this has browned quite a bit, heading towards garnet with a brick rim. Quite transparent and light. I remember my bottles from a few years ago also being very light, but more ruby color.
Nose: cherry, leather, spices - very classic brunello character but not overly complex or powerful.
Palate: tannins are medium, clearly resolving; medium acid; medium body. Sour cherries, spices, some herbal character (spearmint).
Finish: long, dry, pleasant.

Don't you love it when folks drink Brunello at the 5 year mark and then rate it a 76 or 77 after a PNP? Jeeeesh.
In summary, this is a good "introductory" Brunello. Was going to wait until 25, but needed the space. 1 hour in glass. V - Pale ruby/garnet, definitely garnet on the meniscus. N muted. Cherry, forest floor, perhaps some green herbs/new tobacco. P is primarily savory, with cherry. Caramel and some baking spice on the mid-palate. Reasonably long finish that sours a bit. Lacks power and vibrancy to put it 90+ like higher end Brunello. Probably wouldn't purchase again but I appreciate that someone is trying to make reasonably priced Brunello!

PnP. Red fruit, slight herbaceousness and lead pencil on the nose, Grippy tannins up front but with a bit of an unpleasant harsh mouthfeel, medium/high acidity, spice from oak on the mid palate continuing into the finish which is medium/long.
Much better with time in the glass. Everything balancing and mellowing. Decant next time or wait a few years. No score as PnP probably not ideal.

Medium garnet in the glass - beautiful! Wafts if tomato leaf, tobacco, and assorted herbs. Grippy tannins and an exceptional spicy length. Wish I had another bottle to tuck away for a few more years.

Nice little wine. Subtle tannins. This falls again in our Tuesday wine category. I know this is a Thursday. Wonderful nose for the price point. If you are looking to expand your palate Costco Signature selection wines are a good place to start with out breaking the bank. This is an easy drinker. Has a few more years to peak. Decanted at 40 minutes and smooth as silk.
