very good german premium sekt. Very smooth and fine perlage, good amount of wood, pretty dark intense yellow color. Not as fine and complex as the counterparts from champagne, but overall very good.

Sekt from Georg Breuer, 12 years on lees, vintage 2008? Just had to try one even though a quite hefty pricetag for a sekt. Priced as a good champagne.
Right on the nose this is somewhat special. Gasoline, yasmine flowers, lime juice, peach, hard bread made from rye and boiled rice.
Light on the palate with crisp acid. Chili fruit, liquorice, lime juice and hard bread from rye.
This is far away from the champagne-style. Much more perfyme-dominated and light on its feet. Interesting wine but like most sekts these never impress me much. I credit their personalities and their own style but when its priced like many good champagnes I rather try my luck there.

A private lunch with family (at home): Disgorged 8 January 2020. A blend of Spätburgunder, Pinot Blanc and Grauburgunder (aged in small oak) and some Riesling, which adds a nice touch of freshness. Slightly reduced on the nose initially, needs some time to open up. Creamy texture, flowers and warmth from the wood, fresh but rounded, ripe citrus and yellow stone fruits, quite spicy on the finish.
