($35) HDR - Much Ado About Mourvedre: Effusive nose - clove, tar, cedar, bit of iodine. Rich, lush black fruit. Full-bodied, concentrated, long. More tar in the finish. Pretty good with decent complexity. I liked this wine okay, but re-reading my tasting notes, I'm surprised I didn't like it more. 80% French oak, 10% new oak.

Impressive and expressive nose, deep and mature, multi-dimensional (bacon, smoke, menthol, cocoa, red fruit, minerals) very Australian; powerful and rich, fleshy, well-structured, ripe tannins, velvety extract, sève; excellent length, lovely fragrant topnotes (flowers, spices), sweet fruit and chocolate, latakia tobacco. Top-notch.

Has matured well, somewhat introverted, powerfully structured, good weight, went well with the beef.
