A: deep ruby, some garnet bricking at rim N: vegetal, forest floor, dried red/black plum, cocoa, charred wood, vanilla, mixed berry compote P: dry, med (+) acidity, med (+) smooth, integrated tannins, full body, 14.5% ABV C: good wine = balanced dried fruit and acidity/smooth tannins, med intensity, med (+) complexity, med (+) concentration of rich dried fruit with plenty of freshness still, med (+) finish. This wine is supposed to be ‘over the hill’ by the drinking window but not at all - quite nice actually with the components very well integrated and some decent complexity. If the finish was a bit longer would go very good on this wine. Drink now but will easily hold for another 5 years plus.

From memory: This does not seem to have changed much over the last two or three years, given that I do not take it to be a long distance runner. Maybe it is a little more smooth now; it is still an extremely good wine for the price with plenty of body, dark fruits, iron and a tannic kick. Excellent grilled steak wine.

Monthly Tasting Group LTB 2010-09; Portugal (By EvA): Good dark fruits like plums and cherries in the bouquet. On the palate also dark fruits, some chocolate, soft tannin and good bitterness. Really pleasant wine with a good qpr. Ready now, but certainly a future of a few years.

Impenetrable purple (no surprise). Oakey, iodine, mineral, citric finish. To its credit, it's neither over-ripe nor flabby but I was expecting more fruit & texture.

Takes a while to open up and remove harsh tannins. After a while pretty good. Good qpr.
