I don't understand all the high ratings for this wine. I find it to be a fairly typical Pinot Noir with notes of dark cherry, strawberry, oak, baking spices, and too much vanilla. I don't know how this bottle was rated #12 on WE Top 100 of 2020. Really? Of all the wines in the world, this was #12? Not buying that. It is good, just not that great.

I agree with the reviewer who said that this didn't really taste like a pinot, and also that it has more dark than red fruit. It was quite good, but not what I expected.

Monterey County, California, 2019 San Simeon Pinot Noir, $18. Light-mid ruby; red fruit, floral, rose petal nose; mid-body; balanced; good acids, tannins; long red fruit hot (14.9 alc.) cherry finish. w/beef stew. 15.5 UC Davis scale, 89 other scales.

Being a Zin drinker, I love this Pinot, loads of Blue and black fruit. A must buy at $13.95, WE 94 rated and #12 of top 100. Super Full-bodied. Long finish. Needs 2 hour decant or else is tight. Some Pinot drinkers may not like this style of dark fruit only Pinot. Am puzzled how WE says it was loaded in Cherry fruit, couldn't find cherry anywhere. Perhaps drinking it a day after was on UPS truck, bottleshock might of muted red fruit. But still very very good regardless.
